How you're assessed
The part everyone worries about, explained up front. The written work is mostly online, studied in your own time; the practical is 1 to 2 days in person. Nothing on this course is a surprise on the day.
Coursework, in your own time
The theory units are evidenced through workbooks you complete as you go, with your tutor checking in. No exam hall, no timed paper, no single make-or-break sitting.
If something is not right first time, your tutor tells you what is missing and you put it right. That is how a competence-based qualification is meant to work.
You coach, an assessor watches
You deliver real sessions in person and are assessed on them by a qualified assessor who works as a trainer themselves, not a clipboard-holder who has never coached.
You finish this course having actually coached someone, which is exactly why employers and insurers take the Level 3 seriously.
The practical days
Coaching, watched by a coach
This is the day the qualification turns real. You are not reciting anatomy or ticking boxes on a form: you deliver an actual personal training session, start to finish, and somebody who trains people for a living watches you do it and assesses you on it.

What the assessor is actually looking at
Whether the session you have written is the session you deliver. Whether you screen and adapt when the person in front of you cannot do what your plan says. Whether your coaching is understandable to somebody who is not a trainer. Whether the person is safe throughout, and whether they would come back.
That is the whole reason the practical exists: a written qualification can prove you know what a hip hinge is, and only a live session can prove you can teach one.
PT Hut is mostly online. Most learners attend in person for 1 to 2 practical days, at the venue published with their intake. Each intake also holds 5 places for learners who cannot travel, who complete the same practical assessment on film. Ask about a remote place when you reserve.
What to expect
No gotchas
You will know what is being assessed, against what criteria, before you are assessed on it. Your tutor will have seen your work and told you whether you are ready.
You get told the criteria
Every practical assessment has a published set of things the assessor is looking for. You see it in advance.
You get a dry run
Practical days build up to assessment rather than dropping you into it cold.
You can put it right
Not meeting a criterion is feedback, not failure. You are given what to fix and a route to be re-assessed.
